About Mrs. Stearns

My name is Caitlin Stearns and I am looking forward to learning with you all this year! This is the start of my third year here at NSE! I graduated Summa Cum Laude with a Bachelor of Science Degree in Elementary Education from Arizona Christian University. My husband and I moved here from Phoenix, Arizona in June of 2016; I also taught third grade there too!  We moved here to be closer to our family, and it has been such a blessing!  Outside of school, I enjoy spending time  hanging out with my husband and our friends playing board games or riding bikes. I also like cooking and baking delicious treats and day dreaming about crafts while watching Fixer Upper on HGTV.

I believe that every student can learn with the proper support and direction. I desire to offer your children exactly that this year! I have a passion for education and I am excited to share that with you. In my classroom, we will work together as a team to accomplish our goals. Our lessons will include creative activities, whole brain strategies, and fun, engaging lessons. These are aspects of education that I value and intend to incorporate in the classroom every day. A bulk of my direction in the classroom has been pulled from best practices by leading educators around the nation.

I believe that homework should be used to practice what is learned in the classroom. Your child will not be doing "busy work" at home. I will send home work that is beneficial and engaging. Your child will be working on reading skills and math topics that we are focused on in class. One of the most important things you can be doing with your child is reading everyday. I encourage nightly reading for about twenty minutes. This reading will be logged and returned weekly. The benefits of nightly reading are endless!

I believe that the education of your child depends on what they do at home AND at school. It is my goal to effectively collaborate with the families in my class to benefit the child and encourage them in their success. I would love to have you volunteer or support our class in any way. If you ever have any questions or comments, please do not hesitate to contact me. We are in it to win it together!
