Leadership

Mrs. Carrie Quinn

Principal

Welcome to Nichols Sawmill Elementary!  I am honored to be starting my tenth year as an administrator here at NSE.   My husband and I have two sons, both following our family’s passion for education:  one a high school math teacher/football coach (Texas A&M) and the other a future ag teacher (SHSU).   We have a family full of BEARKAT and AGGIE educators, my husband and I both being Aggies as well!  My mother, a former GT teacher and librarian, and my father, a former elementary principal, both led the way in my decision to become a teacher and principal.   After several career detours along my educational journey, I landed in elementary teaching several primary grades, second through sixth, but gained most of my experiences in the fourth grade reading/language arts classroom.   Fun fact?   I aspired to be a country music singer (background only!), moved to Nashville for two years after Texas A&M, and there collected some unforgettable experiences, like working at WSIX Radio Station on Music Row as well as dancing in a Vince Gill video!  I love NSE!  Why?  Every year brings new excitement and opportunities for our incredible students to learn and excel.  No doubt about it . . . Our NSE students and staff truly make NSE a great place to be!

Mrs. Joyce Stewart

Assistant Principal

Campus Behavior Coordinator

My husband, Marcus, and I have lived in the Magnolia community since 1994, and we’re the proud parents of two amazing Magnolia High School graduates. I have a Bachelor’s degree in Academic Studies from Sam Houston State University and a Master’s degree in Educational Administration from Lamar University. Nichols Sawmill Elementary has been my ‘school home’ since 2005. I taught first and fourth grade and was the librarian at NSE for several years before moving into campus administration. Working with children and their families to help create lifelong learners has been a passion of mine and I have been blessed to see so many students accomplish their dreams in my time here at NSE. When I’m not at school, I can either be found driving a tractor around our farm or off on some fantastic adventure traveling around the USA. We have an incredible school and community partnership, and I am blessed to be a part of helping our children grow and learn.

Mrs. Audrey Taylor

Academic Coordinator

The 2022-2023 school year will be my 6th year in education and my 2nd year at NSE as the Academic Coordinator. I obtained my BS in Economics from Texas A&M University and my M. Ed. in Administration from Lamar University. I am inspired to be an Academic Coordinator because I am passionate about teachers and students. I know that all students can learn at high levels when they are given the opportunity, and it is our responsibility to make sure we give them the chance to do that through excellent instruction. A fun fact about me is that I am good at random things! I can solve a Rubik’s cube, touch a regulation basketball rim, and can make a cornhole bag behind my back. I love the students, staff, and families at NSE. There is an amazing sense of community here.

Mrs. Anne Marie Woody

Counselor

My husband and I have two wonderful sons, Matthew and Nicholas, and two amazing granddaughters, Mabry and Mila.  I have a Bachelor’s degree in Elementary and Special Education, a Master’s degree in Educational Administration and a Master’s degree in Counseling.  I have always wanted to work with children and have worked in the school setting for the last thirty-eight years.  I have taught first and fifth grade and for the last twenty-seven years I have been a school counselor.  Because my dad was in the Air Force, I have moved around quite a  bit.  In my very long lifetime, I have moved twenty-one times.  NSE is by far my favorite place to work.  We have the very best students, parents, and community.  Our students are loving and very accepting of one another.  That is due to the way they are being raised by their parents.  It is such a joy to work with them each and every day.
