The secret to happiness is being happy with what you have....which means that I've hit the jackpot! Twenty-one short years ago, I graduated from the University of Texas at Austin with a degree in Elementary Education. With one year of experience under my belt teaching public speaking in College Station ISD, I moved back to my hometown, Houston. After teaching as a fifth-grade teacher in Cypress-Fairbanks ISD for 2 years, I married my husband and started a new chapter of my life..... as a wife and second-grade teacher. For the next 5 years, I lived unaware that life could get any better until I had my daughter. The next chapter began starring me as a mom and a P.E. teacher. Four short years later, my little family added its newest (and final) member, my son. The four of us moved out to the country in Magnolia where we enjoy the simpler things in life like watching deer feeding in the backyard, listening to the frogs croaking in the pond, or watching our 2 dogs play chase. The story doesn't end there. After years of commuting and being unable to spend Spring Break with my personal children, I finally landed my feet in Magnolia ISD at Nichols Sawmill Elementary as a fifth grade teacher for the past two years. It seems my journey as a teacher has come full circle with returning to my love for teaching fifth grade! Each year I'm reminded of all of the things for which I am thankful...my family, friends, health and position as an elementary teacher. I'm living the American Dream!
