I have invested 14 years in the Mississippi public educational arena. My first seven years were spent as a band director in Kosciusko, Mississippi. The next seven were devoted to school administration with the Starkville School District in Starkville, Mississippi. For two years, I served as the project coordinator for 21st CCLC, an after-school and summer enrichment camp. My next administrative role was serving as an assistant principal at Sudduth Elementary, a K - 2 campus, for three years. My final two years with SSD I served as an assistant principal with Armstrong Middle School, a 6th - 8th campus.
My family (wife, Brittany and son, Nic) and I moved to Magnolia, Texas in July 2016. Immediately, we were welcomed by some awesome people who helped us get acclimated to this city and state. The Texas food, friends, and fellowships are so superb.
I love reading books on leadership and historical fiction. I enjoy playing bass guitar with the "Charlie Riley Band." I am a huge fan of college sports. The best part of my day is spending time with my wife and son. We love to play outside, ride bikes, cook, and play board games.
James Comer says that "no significant learning occurs without a significant relationship." I love building and sustaining relationships with family and friends. To close with a final quote, Todd Whitaker, educational leader and author, says that "great teachers never forget that it is people, not programs, that determine the quality of a school."
I have completed 2 years with NSE as their assistant principal, working with GREAT people who have shown me what it takes to be a successful leader. What is so incredible about this position is that I get to see educators really showcase their strengths in preparing students for the next grade level. Learning how to leverage those strengths so that we can achieve our school's vision is what makes this profession worthwhile and engaging. I am excited about year three with my NSE friends and family. "Let's go to work!"
